Has this always been your dream? is a question I often get from friends and visitors when they hear about my career change from Finance Director into “Handelsmadame”, merchant, in the medieval Old Town of Stockholm. I honestly don’t know the answer – not yet. A number of coincidences and a persistent inner voice kept leading me to Köpmangatan, the oldest known street name in Stockholm. The unique atmosphere and wonderful premises reminded me about an unusually clear dream I had one night some years ago, about a combined design shop and a space for meaningful meetings. Surrounded and supported by some amazing people believing in the idea, Kompani Kolibri opened in July, 2019. Every single day since then has been a fantastic journey, with incredible meetings with people from near and far, and a never-ending exchange of energy, inspiration, personal growth and gratitude.

Kompani Kolibri is founded on a passion for excellent design from Scandinavia and beyond, combined with strong values for high quality, sustainability and a wish to promote artisans and small-scale entrepreneurs, women in particular.

Kompani Kolibri is also founded on a dream of creating a space for meaningful meetings and good conversations. In an era of social and climate challenges, the pandemic, digital debates and stress in our daily lives, I believe we need to make room for many more dialogues striving for positive change. The tranquility and beauty of the Inner Room at Kompani Kolibri, with its windows towards the silent back yard, forms an extraordinary and friendly atmosphere enhancing present time, at the same time as the medieval surrounding adds a perspective to history, which I believe will help making the perspective of future more tangible. Kompani Kolibri serve as a safe space, where value-driven creativity, dialogues and new ideas may thrive. Last, but not least: I also believe in the power of good relations and laughter.
